Around The Peak: A run with plenty of options

Location: The Peak Galleria, 118 Peak Road, The Peak, Hong Kong
If you want to get right up above the city, then there is no better place than The Peak.  Choose your time mind you: at the weekend Harlech and Lugard Roads can be busy with tourists, but later in the day, or first thing, this is a great run with views of both sides of the island: down across Central to Kowloon and on to the New Territories, then on around for views of Lantau, Lamma and then down to Aberdeen and Pokfulam reservoir.  It is also shady with trees and sitting out areas along the way.

Essentially this is a short loop of 3.5km, but has some surprising rises in it.  It is far from straight on the northern / Lugard Road side.  Watch your step at night.  There are some dark patches.  The great thing with this run is that you can do it standalone or add bits onto it either at the beginning or end.  The Morning Trail makes for a steep 1.8km climb or an easy end of run decent, ditto Old Peak Road, both of which will bring you back to Mid Levels, food, drink and beer.  Alternatively you can strike out onto Blacks Link or a myriad of other options around The Peak area (see other run route descriptors).

Refreshments are always close at hand, as is easy transport (not least of course the Peak Tram).  And in the summer, it will be just that little bit cooler...assuming The Peak is not enveloped in cloud.
Distance: 3.5km with options for additional loops or access to other routes
Type: paved
Traffic: Lots of pedestrians. Occasional cars with more near the Peak Galaria
Refreshments: 7-Eleven among other options at the Tram terminus
Getting There: Taxi, buses and mini buses (number 1 from Central) and Peak Tram
