CONTRIBUTE

The runs on this blog are not definitive: Hong Kong has plenty of other runs that I have not done including some ultra long runs.  If you would like to contribute then please do!  However I need a few things to try and keep the format consistent:

Run Introduction
A short 2 - 300 word intro that describes the run.  Include some basic route directions or any watch outs such as easily missed turns etc.  Clearly state where you see the run beginning and ending.

Run Summary

  • DISTANCE: km or miles
  • TYPE: Paved, Trail, Track
  • TRAFFIC: We are thinking motor vehicles (and avoiding) here
  • REFRESHMENTS: where can you buy food / drink if you can.  Bring your own.
  • GETTING THERE: What are the main public transport links to get here.  Just taxi or if possible highlight bus and mini bus routes

Tags / Key Words
Take these from the word cloud on the home page or create your own.  Key ones are:

  • Out and Back / Point to Point / Loop
  • Short (up to 10km) / Medium (10 - 21km) / Long (21 - 42km) / Ultra (43km+)
  • Hong Kong Island / Kowloon / New Territories
Plot The Route
No run is worth including unless it has a clear route map.  Whilst we all choose to vary the runs we do, having your basic idea on a map makes it easier for anyone wanting to try it for the first time.

I have been using PlotARoute.  I find this to be the fastest for creating a map (better than Garmin, MapMyRun etc.) and with the Auto Plot it is the best for keeping on trails as well as roads (select 'On Foot')

You do need to register to use but they seem to be spam free so I had no issues (and there are plenty of other routes there).  You then need to 'share' the route and send me the code for the run.

Alternatively you can upload a GPX, TCX, FIT or KML file to get the route or send that direct to me if you have it in your device.

Pictures
Finally, any pictures are welcome.  They make the posts more interesting and can highlight any tricky intersections or start / end points very nicely.
