Ferry to Ferry: Mui Wo to Discovery Bay (6km)

Location: Mui Wo, Hong Kong
A short run that takes you up and over a 200m hill between Mui Wo (Silvermine Bay) and Discovery Bay.  You can run this in either direction.  There is a regular ferry service that connects with both ends.

Running out of Mui Wo you skirt the top of the beach before taking the left hand fork and heading up onto the hill.  It is  a relatively short climb but steep, and mainly steps.  They are small enough to keep your pace up but your calves will burn!.  From the peak (360 degree views of Lantau and Central and Kowloon over Peng Chau Island) here it is straight down  the trail heading towards the Trappist Monastery and pier before turning off  to head up to Discovery Bay (don't miss the small path that take you to DB.  If you follow on down you arrive at the beach and will need to pass the stations of the cross going back up a steep slope).  From the 3km mark it is downhill all the way until the flat run into DB.  On a good day, this run gives good views over south Lantau and across to Hong Kong Island with the boats darting back and forth.
Distance: 6km
Type: Point to Point
Traffic: None
Refreshments: At either end or bring your own if running in hot weather
Getting There: Ferry from Central Piers to either Mui Wo (Silvermine Bay) and then back to Central from Discovery Bay
