This is a great 5km workout that takes you along the southern beaches. Given that it is a populated area it can be done at night and you will also find refreshment options open well into the evening as well as transport links home again. If you are in Hong Kong and want to see more than the city without hitting the trails, what better way to get away from it all than visit the beach? You can even cool off with a post run swim.
Start at the Hong Kong Country club and walk down the hill to Mills and Chung Path. From here it is a case of following your nose around the beach. Make sure to take the headland path after Deepwater Bay around to Repulse Bay and then follow the road along to the end of Repulse Bay Beach and follow the road up and down to South Bay. At the end you can turn on tail, or walk down to the beach, grab a beer from the cafe and jump in the sea.
Distance: 5km
Type: Pavement (and beach)
Traffic: None
Refreshments: Stops at Deepwater, Repulse and South Bay beaches
Getting There: Buses 6A, 6X, 65, 73, 260 and 973 all stop at the Hong Kong Country club. From here it is a short walk to Mills and Chung Path. Coming back from South Bay beach usually involves a taxi. They will happily take you back to Repulse Bay if you don't want to take it all the way back to town.
