Sometimes all you want to do are interval sessions or just spend some time on a track. There are a number of running tracks around the city but most need to be booked out in advance and therefore get taking by clubs. The joy of Aberdeen is that, unless there is a major event taking place, the track is open to everyone from early morning to late evening.
Of course, this means that you won;t be on your own: there will invariably be a running club or two but that also means that you might be able to find someone to run with. Tuesday night is a particularly good night to go as at around 7pm a mixed group of committed runners turn up to do an organised sprint session. Each week varies, there is no charge, just turn up and join in the fun.
The sports ground is a large complex just before the Aberdeen Tunnel Plaza stop. It is served by buses from all over the region (large and mini) and will one day have an MTR line...but unless you are reading this in 2016 or 2017 don't hold your breath. Facilities are good: there are lockers (bring a padlock or a $10 coin), changing facilities, showers and drinks machines.
Distance: n/a
Type: Track
Traffic: n/a
Refreshments: Drinks machines and fountains
Getting There: Multiple bus options run from all over the Island and some from wider parts of Hong Kong.
To get back, either head across the bridge and walk to the bus stop or head to Aberdeen and connect on from there. Taxis stop regularly.
